Projects
Since its inception in 2011, EAM has completed a wide range of projects based on our extensive technical and commercial experience and subject matter expertise in the aerospace industry as well as our ability to provide global strategic insight and networking. A select list includes:
$3 Billion Greenfield Aerospace Material Manufacturing Complex
- State of the art greenfield aerospace materials complex that included:
- Hard alloy aluminum rolled sheet and plate facility
- Large press hard alloy aluminum extrusion facility
- Large press hard alloy aluminum, titanium and steel forging facility
- Hard alloy round and rectangular aluminum ingot casting facilities
- This is the project for which EAM was created since the Ownership, Chairman and Board of Directors wanted Mr. Feigenbaum and Mr. Du to lead their greenfield project development
- Created a “Western Experts” team to strategize, lay out, design, and specify equipment for all production facilities, train local employees, and develop commercial / market strategies:
- Developed the commercial strategy for each facility
- Created the operational layout for each facility
- Specified the key equipment and facilitated much of the bidding and purchasing
- Oversaw the equipment commissioning
- Wrote the quality manuals and designed the product traveler system
- Led the AS9100 and NADCAP qualification processes
- Negotiated key initial commercial supply contracts
Strategic Business Case Development for New Aerospace Rolling Facility
- Working on behalf of a large aerospace OEM and with an international investment team, developed an overview and strategy thesis for a new $1.5B aerospace rolling facility
- After providing an analysis for the target product and capacity, developed a total installed cost (TIC) estimate, human resources estimate, and supported the development of the business case.
- Developed supporting market research reports on supply, demand, capacity utilization and pricing, detailed processing and costing plans and detailed project implementation plans including cash flow and payback analysis.
Strategy Development for New Large Press Forging Facility
- Developed an overview and strategy thesis for a company planning to enter the large press forging arena of the aerospace industry
- Created a high-level facility plan, including key equipment, costs, cash flows, and payback analysis
- Provided an overview of market segments, products, materials, customers, and competitors
Large Commercial Aircraft OEM Supplier Management Advisory
- Provided guidance to a new-entrant large commercial aircraft OEM on key aspects of supplier management
- Recruited experts to help this OEM develop detailed processes and strategies
Joint Venture Connection and Structuring for Aerospace Materials Test Lab
- Developed a strategic alliance and ultimately a joint venture between a major Western aerospace material testing laboratory and a Chinese government entity for the purpose of enabling standardized testing and standards capability for the developing Chinese commercial aerospace industry
Joint Venture Development for Training Aerospace Component Assembly
- Developed a strategic alliance and ultimately a joint venture between a multi-billion-dollar French aerospace company and a Chinese entity for the purpose of training Chinese personnel to properly assemble major commercial aircraft assemblies
- Customers of the joint venture include major large commercial aircraft OEMs
M&A Strategy and Synergy Development, Facility and Asset Evaluation and Technical Due Diligence
- Identified strategic aerospace M&A targets for large financial and strategic buyers
- Developed theses for strategic fit, hard and soft synergies, and/or financial exit strategies
- Participated as part of the deal teams to evaluate technology, facilities, and assets (both material and intellectual); identified risk and upgrade opportunities
Commercial Development for Fuel Systems Component Sales
- Worked with a European manufacturer of aerospace fuel system components to develop strategic sales opportunities with key commercial customer in China; a joint venture is in process
Titanium Scrap Purchasing, Processing and Revert Preparation
- Located, tested, and purchased aerospace grade titanium scrap for a US titanium ingot producer
- Developed a facility in China for processing, packing and shipping scrap to the US producer
